Derby Day is always one of my favourite
days yet, I swear it was the 'Ice Bucket Challenge' for all Fashions
on the Field entrants with shivering cold winds from Antarctica
blowing up from the south. Never to fear as we all know we are in
November and the weather is about as predictable as which direction
my cat wants to sneeze.
I watched all entrants not battle it
out for the prize of most fashionable, yet 'Fashion Survivor', I
cringed when watching the final 8 parade that I just could not sit
through any longer even when wearing 'vintage' fur. If you know me
well enough, you will know my hatred for cold weather.
The Birdcage as always was in full
celebrity swing, but I really wanted to focus on Fashions on the
Field and what we are prepared to see for the coming days.
I am glad that texture has played a big
part with Maticevski taking centre front and stage with the most
stylish lady being taken out by Em Bodinar and our favourite
fashionable 'It Girl' of the moment Brodie Worrell taking out the
crown of Derby Days. The dress was a winner on all three participants
who sported it today.
You never can expect what is going to
make the finals, but I am making it clear that all involved in the
Biggest Fashion Game in the World it is lifting the stakes.
You are no longer just fashionable
clothes horses, you are not being looked at as 'princess stock',
being judged in comparison to Duchess Katherine not to mention a
royal behind 'Pippa'.
Remember Kitsch, OTT is now no longer
what wants to be sported, yet a more demure lady like, take home to
mum, girl next door. The look is clean sleek and remembered.
This was an incredibly tough
competition today and you ladies and may I say in 'Gentlemen
category' has been stepped up a notch or 5. You are all amazing and
inspire me. There is what I call the “New Breed” of Fashions on
the Field ladies who have been waiting in the wings to shine and they
are. Be beautiful embrace who you are and your individual
uniqueness. To stand and be judged by a panel of judges and stand in
front of a nation on TV is difficult, you can open yourself to
criticism and judgement all just based on a look. You are ALL
Winners!

On a personal note, I am really happy
that the word of Mental Health Awareness, opening dialogue to people
and letting people that I am open to discussing the issue where we
may have suffered from issues of anxiety and depression has
overwhelmed me. I have so many people talk to me openly about how
seeking help has changed their lives. We all face challenges
everyday and we live in a very fast pace world. I ask you to always
be mindful of people around you and you can change your own world.
Thank you for everyone who sat or stood and chatted to me about how
they have changed their life for the better through seeking help. In
my world I accept difference and welcome that we are not all built
from the same mould. Being yourself is the only person you will ever
have to be. x
