Racing Fashion at Oaks Day Luncheon

One thing I would love to see added to Fashions on the Field would be an over 55 category. There is something about women when they understand who they are and have their own beautiful way of dressing. These ladies are my mentors and give me inspiration to dress well and feel fantastic.

These ladies have poise and elegance and I don't always see them final on Fashions on the Field and really I feel that ladies may feel intimidated by the beauty of youth and in reality our bodies and faces cannot compete with the younger counterparts. With all that said, I love to see young ladies embracing style and race wear of yesteryear. We have to engage the young but give them other than media figures to muse their attire.

I feel the competition of Fashions on the Field welcomes all ages and does not discriminate against age, but I want to see ladies showcasing their favourite attire more often. At the races in dining areas you often see beautifully dressed ladies with their pearls of wisdom hanging from their neck, yet never make it to Fashions on the Field. Oaks Day Luncheon and social parades seem the only places where you can put on a hat and wear your Sunday best.

Caulfield has embraced the mature age bracket by bringing in 40 plus section, although I think the attire that often is selected is still on very slender, younger looking contestants. This is all good and well and that is what the judges deem most fashionable, but looking at the success of Ari Seth Cohen Advanced Style Blog it is evident that we are missing out on finding our true fashion mentors. Ladies I cannot wait to join you tomorrow for 'The Beautiful Girls' luncheon and see true Racing Fashion in all its glory.

Another Legend Dies, RIP Anna.

Today I had the pleasure of attending the sublime Haute Couture Collection of Madam Virtue, in case you did not know is my favourite Haute Couture label with amazing gowns and the most beautiful accessories. In saying this one of my favourite ladies that I look up to has passed today. Anna Piaggi. May you rest in Peace.
Today when Phillip Boon was talking he turned to Jenny Bannister, another Australian Fashion Icon who I admire and gives me inspiration to believe in myself and not to be scared to take risks. The beautiful Bannister wore her signature colourful style, that I asked today, "Are you a little Queensland inspired?",
to take away from the hum drum Melbourne beat of Black and White.
The Amazing Ms Bannister paid homage to one of her icons, wearing Blue Hair.
If we do not have these amazing people stepping out of the box to show us how much fun fashion can be and how to capture people spirit through an outfit, where are we heading?
I am so happy that people push my boundaries in fashion, Dean Hewitt and JC Llyod,Southwell d'Anvers.

I am sorry, I do not find Sarah Jessica Parker a particular style Icon, she is a character that is constantly styled.
I do find that Anna Piaggi and Isabella Blow, Anna Della Russo and even the stiff upper lip of Anna Wintour the ladies I look to as well as the amazing Jenni Bannister, Australian Icon. Kelli Hush, now editor of Bazaar is keeping the magazine in keeping with the age group and coming from Grazia is definitely growing the monthly magazine to a must have addition. I am sure Kelli also has had it from me going on about hats, but alas the last 2 covers or Bazaar do have hats. Yes the hat is BACK!

In Summary, I had the pleasure to greet one of Anna Piagi's friends today, who was a fashion palette within herself and her dear friend of 90.

She said I looked wonderful, which was lovely and she asked about my fashion hero's.

I said, you are! Ladies of yesteryear who wore a beautiful garment to every occasion for and dressed for everything. I am not the best China that sits in the cupboard that waits to be brought out for the visitors. I am that visitor, I am worth being my best everyday.

Anna Piaggi, did tell that in 1972 Vintage is going to be the thing to wear.

I HEAR YOUR FROM THE GRAVE, and I will keep praising your words.

Ladies who dress for an occasions and are not scared to step out of the box, you are my idols.
I appreciate youth in beautiful garments, but mature ladies, you are my mentors, I follow you and love you.

RIP Anna Piaggi, you will be sadly missed.

Meet Lanvin’s Other Senior Campaign Star (and Advanced Style Regular) 62-Year-Old Tziporah Salamon By EMILY SINGER

Lanvin’s latest ad campaign has created a decent amount of buzz, and with good reason–Alber’s models aren’t models at all. They’re ordinary women (and men) whose ages fall somewhere between 18 and 82.

We’ve already fallen in love with the woman at the latter end of the spectrum–Jacquie “Tajah” Murdock, a former Apollo dancer whose lifelong dream it was to make it as a model in Paris. She’s somewhat of a regular on Ari Seth Cohen’s street style blog, Advanced Style, but she’s not the only one in the campaign who has been featured on the site.

62-year old Tziporah Salamon is one of Ari’s favorite and most recognizable characters and she, too, posed for Lanvin’s fall campaign. Shetold Ari that she is “totally honored, jazzed and thrilled” about the campaign. Us too, Tziporah.

Between Tajah, America Apparel’s Jacky and now, Tziporah, we’re starting to see a trend…
