Grazia Australia Loves Headwear

Something I am always happy to see is that Grazia Australia showcases headwear at least once a month in its Editorial Fashion shoots as a regular accessory.  Poor Kellie Hush is always bombarded by me saying how much milliners, hatmakers and myself love to see hats as a regular feature in Grazia Australia Magazine.  Here is the shoot of Dark Secrets featuring Willow designs.  Photography by Georges Antoni and Styling by Thelma McQuillan.  May 28 issue of Grazia Australia.

Hatmaker Headpiece, this is the piece that had tragedy strike when I entered the shop.

By the way do you notice that Grazia 'NEVER' refers to headwear as fascinators.  Hmmmmm, love it.

Carla Zampatti 2012 Spring Summer

Photo from Carla Zampatti Facebook Page, Click Here.

Still pinching myself. 5 years ago when I started Racing Fashion Australia I had not idea what so ever that I would be sitting in not only one of Australia's most respected fashion designers home, but sit with masses of fashions 'A' list of Australia. Carla Zampatti generously opened the doors of her home to fashion royalty in Australia to experience her 2012 Spring Summer collection and I could not have been more excited for the racing fashion community.
Whenever any Lady walks past a Carla Zampatti window, there is always a wow factor sitting in the window, saying, yes Carla had you in mind. That is right, Carla has you in mind, the Australian woman. Carla blesses us with her unique style that can integrate from the gorgeous Miranda Kerr of size, Victoria Secret to myself hitting 40 in August with a body of 2 children, to my mothers age which she calls 40 as well. Hmmmm, strange how that can work.
Carla Zampatti has such remarkable innovative style that can make any woman feel fabulous. The parade in the opulent surrounds of one of Sydneys most exclusive addresses would have been Posh Beckham worthy.
Although the designs were on glamerzonian beauties, there was something for everyone and it seems every box has been ticked. Think romance, think pastel and sorbet lace with a touch of Carla's unique statement colour of close the the Pantone colour of the year Tangerine, there was not a lady in the room that was not relating to this collection. Even though Barry Humphries was sitting in front of me, I could see he was taking notes for his client Dame Edna. May I add, Mr Humphries was saluting the millinery tradition like myself wearing a hat for the day. I was a little excited about Jonathan Howard's (Hatmaker) piece he had crafted for me, to be subtle enough to hight light my favourite Prada Lace suit although not detract from it. All in all, Romance, Pastel, and ladylike elegance. Carla Zampatti is going to be a huge hit come Spring Carnival this year and again transform the staple of Melbourne Derby Day from Black and white to a palette of gelato flavoured colours. Forget the heights of your hems as well ladies, unless you are wearing a balloon skirt or shorts, allow you hems to scoot across the floor. Get ready to head straight to the nearest lingerie store as you are going to have to adorn yourself in flesh coloured undergarments for the sheer nature of this collection. Bathers, Resort wear, Evening, Cocktail as well as office has all been covered, so look no further, Carla has spoken with no need to leave the tranquillity of her beautiful home. Sydney Welcome to Fashion Week!

Me Time

Usually the thought of a flight makes me nauseous thinking I will be controlling my son who is about to hit 2 and my daughter 3 ½ who has to be entertained the whole time. Today is two and half hours of me time. So I pop on my favourite flats, ensure that I ask for the vegetarian meal being 'Good Friday', although I am not in anyway religious and take the opportunity to breeze through the racing sections and opinions on Black Caviar against Phar Lap. Then to top things off my favourite magazine with a huge double issue 'Grazia'. I never really blog about myself as it is usually what inspires me, as you all know day to day my life is well lets not say totally boring as I adore my two children and my husband is delicious as ever, but really, who would want to hear how many times my baby had his nappy changed and getting up at 3am for mummy duties, I know, it sounds like that movie, “I don't know how she does it!”, and to tell you the truth I don't.
One thing that I am blessed with is my husband makes sure I am happy and healthy, which as you all know lately has been a battle, but heading on top of things with daily doses of extra Iron to make sure I am not going to faint. My husband is now sounding like Sam Kekovich, who I may add is a top bloke, insisting I eat red meat at least once a day. Well, until tomorrow, like diets always start tomorrow.
Tonight I am meeting with my favourite Australian milliner, if not my favourite in the world! Yes, Jonathan Howard Hatmaker and my daughter has even made him an Easter drawing. I am picking up some of his latest shots and going to be posting them soon on the www.racingfashion.com.au website so stay tuned. Sydney, you have all the little hidden gems up there, Neil Grigg, of course Jonathan, Nerida Winter, Suzy O'Rourke and the list goes on, but one issue I am particularly proud of is that I can see the '2012, Bring back the Hat, and Year of the Hat' reached it's pinnacle yesterday this is not just a proud moment for me, but for every hat wearer, milliner, supplier and crafts person. This is a little journey I am on, and most of you know the reason I love wearing a hat so much first came when I was very young, but at 33 when I lost my hair. For some reason it did not bother me that much, and I am glad because my hair again is coming out at a rate of knots, no pun intended, but hey, there are worst things in the world. Thank you for following and appreciating millinery, remember I am just talking about it and love tinkering with them, the milliners are the artists that make your outfit more than a dress!
